The Gate Pub Bricket Wood
The Gate PubBricket Wood

       Welcome to The Gate

We want to offer everything we believe a village pub should - brilliant, genuinely home cooked food, fantastic cask ale and a warm welcome for everyone from families to dog walkers, from locals to cyclists and from ramblers to business customers.

Chuck in some free wi-fi, freshly ground coffee, a kids corner with board games, and we should be all set.

We're not a Gastro Pub and we're not into that Fine Dining stuff or care about Michelin Stars... We are a village pub, with home cooked food, fresh bread baked every morning, pies that change daily, local produce, a fabulous team who'll look after you, become your friend, stroke your pooch and play with your kiddies.

We look forward to seeing you soon....

The Gate is situated in Bricket Wood on the outskirts of St.Albans - we've added a bit of TLC inside and out, throwing around a bit of battleship grey here, some antique brass light fittings there, and a  whole load of happy thoughts everywhere else. Throw in some comfy seats, some exposed brickwork and a little bit of new wood flooring and we have your new favourite hang out all ready to go!

The juxtaposition of old and new is not just shown in the interior, with new and old world wines chilling proudly shoulder to shoulder, and cool cask ales brewed locally mixing it with bottled craft ales from across the pond

Little paws...

Our ethos has always and will always be 'family'.

Family is defined only by you, your best friends, girlfriends from work, extended relatives, neighbours, drunk uncles and distant cousins... Children, yes children! This is the pub where the monsters can dine and explore homecooked goodness with the added bonus that we'll clean up the mess and do the washing up.

Not forgetting our furry family, we have water bowls scattered around, poo bags behind the bar and doggie treats by the beer.
